About

Cambridge Acting Academy

Camera Light

Helen Strange founded Cambridge Acting Academy in 2019 in order to offer professional, industry level acting training in her home town of Cambridge. Helen was Head of Classical Text at RADA for many years and was a senior voice and acting tutor and project director from 1986-2013. She is passionate about making the arts accessible to all and alongside her professional and drama school work, she has run various youth and community theatres.

Her aim is to run affordable courses that enable students to fulfil their creative potential. Whether working with children, young people, or adults, professionals or amateurs, her work is focused on the individual and creating a sense of company. She believes strongly in teaching acting skills and extending theatrical knowledge, but equally important is the development of the imagination and the freedom to experiment.

As a specialist in voice and text, along with her physical theatre background, she believes in demonstrating the links between body, voice and the word. All the guest tutors are actors and practitioners who have been invited because of their complimentary contribution to the courses. Cambridge Acting Academy offers a supportive and stimulating, non competitive, challenging and fun training environment, to anyone who wants to act or find a creative outlet. Tap into your talent; build your self confidence; be inspired.

The studio space is in central Cambridge, 5 minutes from the train station. Performance spaces used in the past have included the ADC Theatre, and the Corpus Playroom.
